I had the pleasure of dining at Jules Bistro , in Toronto of course, during a business lunch earlier this week. It was my first time there and I must say….Bravo! Everything was fresh and tasty and the servers were a delight to interact with.
In addition to the menu that the server (with a dark red french manicure) handed to us there is chalk board taking up the upper section of the south wall featuring specials. There is no shortage of choice at this place!
Everyone at the table ordered a wide variety of the menu items, but since I’m back on the healthy eating wagon (after eating not-so-healthy for a while) I ordered what I wouldn’t regret later.
Since I was in a French restaurant, I had to get their vegetarian french onion soup to start. I know, I know the cheese isn’t exactly waist-friendly (or maybe a little tooo friendly) but when it reached me, to my delight, there wasn’t a thick blanket of cheese on top…just some stringy little globs of cheese at the bottom. The soup was quite delightful, and it didn’t leave me dairy remorseful.
For my main I had one of the specials, grilled salmon on Nicoise salad… Approximately $20.00.
Very good, very fresh…I really couldn’t have asked for it to be any better.
The ambiance was nice, casual, Radiohead playing in the background and one of the servers singing along. He really must have been a Radiohead fan because the music was low, but he knew all the lyrics word for word and gladly drew attention to the quiet music with his lyrical enthusiasm.
Overall I like this spot. Its a great restaurant to have in your back pocket for the affairs that call for simple, yet high quality food in a relaxed atmosphere.
